Bring a pen, paper and an open heart.
This creative writing workshop is designed for published authors as well as people who have an idea or a yearning to write but might never have picked up a pen. It can be used for a novel, memoir or for an adventure into a piece you don’t yet know.
Enjoy a holiday in a scenic village on the Aegean island of Lesbos, while you sharpen your writing skills and creativity, with seven days of inspiration from your environment.
We will work with:
- music
- meditation
- photographs
- poetry: your own and some that will be provided
- memories: distant and recent, real and imagined
- the natural environment on the island
You will work on:
- silencing your inner critics
- finding your own voice
- exploring stories
- developing characters
- writing authentic dialogue
- conceiving, creating and crafting scenes
You will also gain insight into the publishing industry. Expect the unexpected from yourself and your writing.
Cost
The fee of 1,000 EUR (approximately 15,000 ZAR) includes transfers between the village and the airport or ferry port, luxury accommodation for 7 days, 2 meals per day (breakfast and an evening meal) and the programme fee.

About the workshop anchor, Rahla Xenopoulos
Rahla Xenopoulos is the author of A Memoir Of Love And Madness and the novels, Bubbles and Tribe. She has had several stories published and has written for newspapers and magazines. She gives talks on mental health and empowerment and gives writing workshops to underprovided children. She also gives creative writing workshops in Stanford, South Africa, where she has worked with more than sixty writers, including both published writers and novices.

About Molyvos, Lesbos
The workshop is conducted in the port village of Molyvos on the Greek island of Lesbos in the north Aegean Sea. It is the island of Sappho, and many poets after her. Its natural beauty has attracted artists over the centuries. Philosophers like Aristotle and Epicurus worked and taught here. Molyvos, placed on a hill below a Byzantine castle, is a World Heritage Site and one of the island’s most picturesque villages.
